Money20/20: A Few of Our Favorite Things

Money 20/20 – it’s the biggest fintech conference in the U.S., but it’s also home to eager professionals excited to learn more from the experts in the industry. Along with industry leaders, Money 20/20 is host to several journalists who have shared their expertise in a variety of panels. KCD PR was one of those wide-eyed, eager teams excited to not only learn more about the industry but continue to expand our knowledge through intuitive thinking and avid discussion. Though there were far too many sessions and events for us to attend every single one of them, here were a few of our favorites:

Fintech is Femme x Fintech Takes

The Fintech is Femme x Fintech Takes event was the perfect way to kick off the Money 20/20 event! Starting on Sunday at 5 p.m. PT, Nicole Casperson and Alex Johnson hosted a happy hour with a session involving various fintech and banking topics to enlighten the mind and baffle the audience with “hot takes.” It was definitely not a hot take to say that our KCD team had a great time, especially getting to learn about the banking space from a variety of different guest speakers called up!

Alloy Women in Fintech

If you ask any of us (women, of course) what our favorite event of the entire conference was, don’t be surprised to hear Women in Fintech event presented by Alloy Picture this – hundreds of women in a stunning courtyard at the Venetian, drinking cocktails, eating delicious food, and chatting like old friends. It was perfect.

Not only was the food fabulous – not naming names, but some of us had two cones of fries and talked about it for the next week – but the people we met were even better! The KCD team stayed well past the allotted time originally planned for the event, just chatting and hanging out with other ladies in the fintech sphere. And when the event was over, we were all surprised with a dessert bar! Seriously, yum.

Paying with a Selfie? How LATAM is Evolving KYC and Payment Authentication to End Fraud

It’s no surprise that a variety of emerging markets are vulnerable to fraud. This is because there is a lack of defenses built up like in other already-established industries. This session was not only informative, but interesting, and the KCD team was glad to have had the chance to sit down and listen. The panel discussed different components of fraud in Latin America and how the idea of “Know Your Customer” (KYC), or the process of verifying and identifying new customers, is evolving in the region.

 Conclusion

Though we’re bummed the event is over, the KCD team is already looking forward to next year! Between fun events, informative sessions, and meeting wonderful people, we can’t really mention one thing that was better than another. However, we can say that we’re already counting down the days until our next conference. Come join us at FTT Embedded Finance on December 6-7, 2023 in San Francisco, CA!
